Maybe I haven’t met all of me yet. Maybe it is an arduous process, maybe it will even take as long as a lifetime. It kills me to realize that I might never know myself completely, that there are parts of me hidden in places that I do not know exist within me, parts that have been only experienced intimately by a handful of other individuals, parts that have been metamorphosed into a healing power of intangible matter, even parts that have been eventually formed on this journey as a result of endless experiences and fervor. However, in the search for a bigger peace of mind we usually end up overlooking the simple things that make our life so blithely enjoyable. So, here is a list of things that make me happy:

  • Airports
  • The fresh smell of grass on a rainy day
  • Finding an old photograph/memory
  • Long drives
  • Chill Music
  • Street art
  • Pizza! (with literally any toppings ever besides pineapple, because why would you want to do that??)
  • A glass of wine (with the right company)
  • Smell of old books
  • Reading a new book
  • Watching “F.R.I.E.N.D.S”
  • Rom-coms and horror movies
  • Preparing a surprise for a loved one
  • Cuddling under a blanket on a rainy day
  • Random breakfast dates
  • Unplanned trips to literally anywhere!
  • Dancing my heart out
  • Having a shopping spree!
  • Clicking pictures
  • Getting random stomach butterflies
  • Looking and feeling like my best self
  • Giving random compliments to people
  • Being the reason someone smiles
  • Puppies!
  • Dreaming of decorating my future house
  • Making memories with my favorite people

So maybe I don’ t need to worry about the tedious process of finding myself in this restricted amount of time and space that we like to call a “lifetime”. Maybe it starts by making myself and those around me happy. Maybe it is not about completing the conundrum of defining myself with obscure answers, but rather realizing that I bring into this cosmos some form of blissful energy that has not been elicited out there yet, the kind of energy that makes your soul dance and your eyes shine with passion, and finally, the kind of energy that makes you want to actually believe in yourself.
